in der welt sein;
The creative concept of DONT WALK 2017 is split into three different manifestations of progress. The first of the three being our individual psyches; what defines us as individuals and propels us forward whilst simultaneously holding us back? Our model introductory shoot looks to the individual beyond the model. Taking from the works of German philosopher, Martin Heidegger, our introductory shoot is modelled after the German 'in-der-welt-sein'. Translated as 'being in the world' this shoot explores the relationship of our models to the world.
Our understanding of the larger world is reliant on how we each relate to it. We are brought into 'being', into existence, by the way in which we engage with our surroundings; both physical and emotional. In our interactions with one another, we seek to highlight our best selves. The use of paint in this shoot is a comment on this process; highlighting certain features while recognizing our vulnerabilities.
